Removable Singularities for Yang-mills Connections in Higher Dimensions
We prove several removable singularity theorems for singular Yang-Mills connections on bundles over Riemannian manifolds of dimensions greater than four. We obtain the local and global removability of singularities for Yang-Mills connections with L∞ or L n 2 bounds on their curvature tensors, with weaker assumptions in the L∞ case and stronger assumptions in the L n 2 case. With the global gaug...
متن کاملHigher Yang–Mills Theory
Electromagnetism can be generalized to Yang–Mills theory by replacing the group U(1) by a nonabelian Lie group. This raises the question of whether one can similarly generalize 2-form electromagnetism to a kind of ‘higher-dimensional Yang–Mills theory’. It turns out that to do this, one should replace the Lie group by a ‘Lie 2-group’, which is a category C where the set of objects and the set o...
متن کاملFinite Yang-Mills Integrals
We use Monte Carlo methods to directly evaluate D-dimensional SU(N) Yang-Mills partition functions reduced to zero Euclidean dimensions, with and without supersymmetry. In the non-supersymmetric case, we find that the integrals exist for D = 3, N ≥ 4 and D = 4, N ≥ 3 and, lastly, D ≥ 5, N ≥ 2. We conclude that the D = 3 and D = 4 integrals exist in the large N limit, and therefore lead to a wel...
متن کاملSupersymmetric Yang-Mills Theory in Eleven Dimensions
We present a Lorentz invariant lagrangian formulation for a supersymmetric Yang-Mills vector multiplet in eleven dimensions (11D). The Lorentz symmetry is broken at the field equation level, and therefore the breaking is spontaneous, as in other formulations of supersymmetric theories in 12D or higher dimensions. We introduce a space-like unit vector formed by the gradient of a scalar field, av...
متن کاملGravitating Yang–Mills fields in all dimensions
A classification of gravitating Yang–Mills systems in all dimensions is presented. These systems are set up so that they support finite energy solutions. Both regular and black hole solutions are considered, the former being the limit of the latter for vanishing event horizon radius. Special attention is paid to systems necessarily involving higher order Yang–Mills curvature terms, along with t...
